How to Have Happier Guests and Make More with Each Booking

The Host Co is a new company that has created the technology that helps hosts create custom digital stores. It’s available now for early adopters and it’s an amazing way to add extra services and sales to your STR business!

Ever stay at a great Airbnb and fell in love with everything inside? Maybe you forgot some personal items, or just wanted to have some snacks. This is where you can offer your guests more amenities and have happier guests (and make more money!)

How Does it Work?

Hosts create their own digital stores in under three minutes. There is no app to download and all transactions are cashless through PayPal and credit cards. Guests will see a sign in your BnB with your QR code and they can access your store in seconds.

The Host Co. was started by two former HGTV Producers (Curb Appeal, Landscape Smart, Designed to Sell) turned professional Airbnb Hosts!

What Can I sell?

Hosts can sell items that they stock in the home, services they’d like to provide, suggested local products (like local honey), and a quick connection to services that deliver, like grocery delivery or rental car drop-off. If you are an artist or creator, you could sell your own items in the store, or sell locally made gifts for guests to take home.

The Host Co. also provides lots of content on what sells well and shares guests’ requests in their weekly bulletin. 

Items that always sell well: 

    • Things that guests forgot, like toothbrushes, sunblock, and phone chargers
    • Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks
    • Items that enhance the rental experience! Popcorn, firewood, spa face masks, 
    • Decor and season items. Sunhats, tote bags, umbrellas, ceramics, wall art, custom water bottles.

Are your guests always asking for something special like locally roasted coffee, or hot sauce? You can sell just what your guests need and request plus select local products in your area that you don’t need to stock – The Host Co. will ship them directly from the vendor.

Is it Free?

Yes! The Host Co. platform is free for hosts, always. They keep a small amount of sales profit (7%) and charge a handling fee to guests. We suggest marking your items up by about 1x-3x for selling, so for example if you buy a granola bar at Costco that is $1, sell it for $3! Guests are used to premium charges for mini-bars and local goods.

Sit back and let your guests experience and purchase what they love. All transactions are done through PayPal or Credit Card, so there are no calls, texts, or hard selling. And stores are always free for hosts – our transaction fee (15%) is only included in the guest’s purchase. Hosts can make as much money as they want from this service (even more than they make in rentals!), and current hosts sell items ranging from about $3-$300. 

What About Theft?

Guests only get an item’s location on their email receipt after purchase. You can keep shop items in a locked cupboard with a keycode or a hidden drawer. The technology is cashless, has theft prevention built-in, and the best part – you keep 93% of the profits. 

How Can I Start?

The Host Co. platform is live in the US and currently, they are rolling out to early adopters. You can apply as an early adopter here! They are aiming for a 2022 rollout in all of North America.
