VRBO hosts, are you wondering if you should diversify and go on the Airbnb platform as well? VRBO is a great platform to be on, but not the only one. Here are my tips for listing on Airbnb and VRBO to get double exposure!
In the short-term rental business, the more people know about you, the greater is the number of bookings and the higher is your profit. If you have doubts regarding listing your property on both Airbnb and VRBO then the benefits you could gain from it will help you decide.
Increased Visibility
The best way to increase income is to increase visibility. That means you need to reach more people in a shorter time. The best way to gain high visibility is to use multiple channels for listing your property and what better channels can you choose than Airbnb and VRBO?
Wider Reach
Airbnb has evolved into a popular brand name over a period of 12 years. Today, it is a go-to platform for travelers. Airbnb has over 7 million listings and is operating in more than 220 regions and countries. Airbnb provides you with a wide reach.
Thanks to going public last year, and investing millions in advertising, Airbnb travel is growing rapidly. Airbnb saw its highest-ever revenue and net income in September, even though urban and cross-border travel have not returned to pre-pandemic levels, said CFO Dave Stephenson on a call with analysts. Revenue came in at $2.24 billion, up 67% year over year. Net income surged 280% to $834 million on a year-over-year basis.
Airbnb expects revenue between $1.39 billion and $1.48 billion in the fourth quarter, in line with analyst expectations.
Why VRBO Hosts Should List on Airbnb
Airbnb host earnings, service fees, cleaning fees, and taxes — totaled $11.89 billion in the third quarter. That was up about 48% year over year. Airbnb said it expects a strong fourth quarter and for travel demand to extend into 2022. It also expects nights and experiences booked for the fourth quarter to “significantly outperform” the same period last year.
“Looking to 2022, vaccination progress and the recovery of international travel in Q4 2021 will be key themes for growth heading into the new year,” the company wrote.
Fewer Fees for Hosts
VRBO charges a whopping 8 % commission (5% service fee & 3% credit card fee) on every booking you have. Airbnb only takes 3% from hosts. So you’ll earn more!
Will my Booking Calendar be Complicated?
There are ways to make it easy and seamless. With multiple platforms, the responsibilities will also increase. You can use the help of property management software like Hosty and take full advantage of listing on Airbnb and VRBO. Both Airbnb and VRBO (Homeaway) use the same iCal calendar format and can easily be synced with each other and with other calendars for example your Google calendar.
