Here is a wonderful idea to DIY your baby’s shoes into a beautiful keepsake for only $3 . This makes a beautiful and sentimental gift to give your partner for Christmas. My grandmother kept a pair of my mother’s bronze dipped baby shoes on her dresser. I always loved them and I wanted to do something equally special with my baby’s scuffed and worn out shoes. But, to bronze a baby shoes it’s close to $100 these days. I simply bought a small bottle of gold craft paint, gave them 3 coats and voila! Adorable golden baby shoes that you’ll be able to cherish forever. You can display these beautiful golden shoes on a book shelf or mount them on a mini gold painted canvas. I painted them just as they were starting to get tight so she can wear them over the holidays. This way I wouldn’t need to splurge on fancy gold shoes that would be worn a few times. Double win!
Materials
- 1 pair of loved baby shoes
- The best : DecoArt Dazzling Metallic acrylic paint in Champagne Gold
- Paint brush
Directions
- Lay out baby’s shoes on a piece of paper or cardboard.
2. Gently wipe off the excess dirt with a soft rag.
3. Start to paint the first layer, getting into the corners (this coat will be light, don’t worry it will look better with the second coat)
4. Let paint fully dry between coats.
Tip: Laying the strap down makes it easier to paint (I didn’t bother to paint the bottom of the shoes, since she would be wearing them)
6. Add the second and third coats, letting each dry between coats. Touch up anywhere needed.
7. Use a pin to poke out any paint bubbles in the strap holes or if your shoes have cutout details.
My baby was thrilled to wear her new golden shoes which now look brand new again!
